This masterpiece in barro negro is a rare piece by Gran Maestro Carlomagno Pedro Martinez of San Bartolo Coyotepec. In addition to his considerable work as a renowned artist and a mentor, Carlomagno also presides as director of the Museo Estatal de Arte Popular de Oaxaca. This piece has survived an arduous journey relatively unscathed except for the small repaired fissure shown in the detail photo. This is discounted accordingly and doesn't detract from the overall elegance.
