Raccoon

Jacobo and Maria Angeles Ojeda
A spectacular raccoon from the workshop of Jacobo and Maria Angeles Ojeda, measuring 19" long by 9 1/2 at highest point of the tail and about 4" in depth. The undisputed pioneers of innovation in painting styles, they introduced the inclusion of Zapotec symbology found throughout archaeological sites in the region, which they named indigenous style or "grecas" style. The other component to their style, actually known as tessellation, was studied by Jacobo in his years at the Academy at Belles Artes. This launched a revolution of imitation that has spurred numerous others to greater heights of creativity and skill. The response to competition by the workshop has been an evolution of painting on a micro scale that remains unparalleled to this day. The characteristic depth of color of the paints in their work  combines ancient indigenous tinting techniques with more modern paints. $3025 includes domestic shipping.
